Art Camp for kids who love art.

I have decided to offer two (2) different Art Camps this summer for kids entering grades 2-5.

Class sizes will be limited to 8 children (plus my own 8 year old daughter) in order to give kids personalized attention to improve their art skills and grow their creativity. Each class will begin with a brief instruction and note-taking period. Handouts will also be provided for those that are not avid note-takers. Both sessions will end with and Art Show and pot-luck lunch.

Session 1 – Elements of Art & Design
This series of classes is designed to teach your child the fundamentals and basic principles of art: Line, Shape, Color, Value, Texture and Space.
The students will complete 6 projects that will include many art techniques, styles and projects.
Classes will be held on Fridays from 10 – 2:30 (July 1, 8, 15th) and final class on Wed. July 20th from 11:15 – 12:15 with an Art Show and potluck lunch to follow.
All students will be provided with an art journal to keep notes and will be encouraged to continue using it to sketch in throughout the summer.

Session 2 – Be A Master Artist: Exploring Different Art Styles
This series of classes is designed to teach your child about art movements and periods throughout history. Each of the 5 sessions will focus on a different artistic period (Impressionism, Pointalism, Fauvism, Pop Art, and Abstract) as well as artists that worked in those styles. Your child will complete 5 acrylic paintings on canvas in each of the described styles.
All students will be provided with an art journal to keep notes. Those that attended Session 1 can opt to keep their new paintbrushes instead of a 2nd notebook.
Classes will be held August 8 -12 from 10:00 – 12:30. The final class will have an art show from 12:30 – 1:00.
